. . . contributing to the intellectual, creative and cultural life of the University and the State of Missouri by promoting and celebrating innovation and excellence in the humanities and all the arts. . . .

Welcome

The mission of the MU Center for Arts and Humanities (CAH) is to nurture disciplinary and interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public performance in the humanities and all the arts. Through its programs and activities, the Center seeks to contribute to the intellectual, creative and cultural life of the University and the State of Missouri by promoting and celebrating innovation and excellence in the humanities and all the arts. The Center achieves these goals through its support of scholarly, educational and public outreach activities.

The Center also promotes excellence in research and creative endeavors through technical support for grant writing. It collaborates whenever possible with the community at large to bring interesting and meaningful programs to diverse constituencies.

The Center thus complements the work of humanities and arts departments, programs, and other centers within the University by providing additional resources to faculty, staff, and students and by facilitating new collaborations within the University and the surrounding community.

The Center for Arts and Humanities is supported by the generous support of the Office of Research, the Arts and Science Dean's Office, the MU Provost's Office, and the Chancellor's Fund for Excellence (for the CAH Grant Writing Fellowships).

Late-Breaking CAH News

2008 CAH Fellow and Theatre Department Associate Professor Heather Carver won the 2008 Inclusive Excellence Award. Carver was recognized for her outstanding contributions to diversity and inclusive excellence with raising awareness about women's health issues by performing for hundreds and thousands of audience members throughout the State of Missouri in her one-woman show "Booby Prize: A Comedy About Breast Cancer," and "using teaching, research and service to reach out across boundaries to focus on the health and well-being of the community."
